In Loving Memory of Bernie Lubran
Sunny’s Helping Paws mourns the loss of Bernie Lubran, who passed away on September 10, 2026.
Bernie will always hold a special place in our history as SHP’s very first donor. At a time when our mission was just beginning, his generosity provided much-needed support, and a meaningful vote of confidence in the work we hoped to accomplish.
Bernie understood the bond between people and their pets from the heart. His beloved dogs, Toby, Steubie, Romeo, Benny, and Lexi, brought him immense comfort, companionship, and strength, especially during difficult times. Because he knew firsthand how deeply animals enrich our lives, ensuring that pets remain safe, loved, and well cared for was profoundly important to him.
When Bernie learned about Sunny’s Helping Paws and our mission to care for pets while their owners focus on medical recovery, he chose to help. His compassion helped lay the foundation for our work and will continue to be felt in every family and pet touched by the support he helped make possible.
We will remember Bernie with deep gratitude and affection. His donation was the first gift received by Sunny’s Helping Paws, but the kindness behind it is an enduring gift that will forever remain part of who we are.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Fran, Rachel, Meryl and Bernie’s entire family and all who loved him. May his memory inspire us to offer others the same comfort, care, and unconditional companionship that his dogs so lovingly gave to him.
